The Marriage of the Arnolfini is a portrait of Giovanni Arnolfini and his bride Giovanna Cenami who were married in 1434. Some think that the painting represents a marriage certificate for the couple, but the National Gallery disputes this interpretation. You can see the painting in the National Gallery or visit them online for more information.
