Sandro Botticelli 1445 - 1510 An Italian painter belonging to the Florentine school of painting in the early part of the Renaissance (a cultural movement with its roots in Italy and lasting from the 14th to the 17th century). Botticelli tended to paint grand historial and religious subjects. The mystic nativity , 1500-1501 This is a nativity scene with the central characters of Mary, Joseph and Jesus. In addition there are angels, kings and shepherds celebrating the birth. Notice at the bottom of the painting there are three angels giving three men crowned with olive wreaths the kiss of peace. As a result you can see devils rushing off to hide in the rocks!
