Dedham Lock and Mill, 1820 Constable

Dedham Mill, on the River Stour in Essex, actually belonged to Constable's father. The tower in the painting is of Dedham church where you can see an original Constable painting, 'The Ascension'. Constable himself grew up in this area. The painting is held at the Victorian and Albert Museum .
