Élisabeth-Louise Vigée-Le Brun, 1755–1842
Full name Marie Louise Élisabeth-Louise Vigée-Le Brun.
Born in Paris, Vigée-Le Brun was the daughter of a portrait painter. Although her father died when she was only 12 years old, she continued the family tradition and was painting portraits professionally by the age of 15. She has left a prodigious number of paintings to posterity.

This portrait was painted just 10 years before Marie Antoinette's execution and is now at Versailles, though apparently Vigée-Le Brun made several copies of this painting.
