Francoise Duparc (1726-1778)
Although she was born in Spain, Duparc spent her professional life in France - her father was a French sculptor and the family moved to Marseilles when she was just four years old. She was influenced by Dutch artists and most of her work is genre painting, with subjects chosen from everyday life. She was admitted to the Royal Academy in 1776 and left over 40 paintings. Astonishingly (the quality of her work is evident in this painting alone) only four are known, the others presumably in private collections. Also, we can find very little information on the web about Duparc.
