Edgar Degas 1834 - 1917
A French artist and one of the founders of impressionism, Degas is especially famous for his paintings of dancers. although he also painted portraits, nudes and racecouses amongst others.

A Roman Beggar Woman, 1857, was painted by Degas when he visited Italy in 1856.
