David Teniers the Younger 1610 - 1690, was a Flemish aritist of the Baroque Era and the son of David Teniers the Elder. He specialised in genre painting and is regarded as one of Europe's foremost artists of his time, ranking alongside Rubens and Van Dyke. Twelfth Night (The King Drinks) c. 1634-1640. This depicts a Twelfth Night of Christmas celebration. One of the revellers is made "king" for the night - usually the king is chosen by being the one to find a bean hidden in a special Twelth Night cake, although the details vary depending on the country.
