David Teniers the Younger 1610 - 1690, was a Flemish aritist of the Baroque Era and the son of David Teniers the Elder. He specialised in genre painting and is regarded as one of Europe's foremost artists of his time, ranking alongside Rubens and Van Dyke.
He was part of the "Bruegel dynasty" in that he married Anna, the daughter of Jan Brueghel the Elder, making Pieter Bruegel the Elder his grandfather in law.

Twelfth Night (The King Drinks) c. 1634-1640. This depicts a Twelfth Night of Christmas celebration. One of the revellers is made "king" for the night - usually the king is chosen by being the one to find a bean hidden in a special Twelth Night cake, although the details vary depending on the country. The king is shown on the right of the painting, wearing a blue coat. You can find out more about Twelfth Night at School of the Seasons.
The actual painting is at the Museo del Prado, Madrid, Spain.
You might like to contrast this painting with one of the versions of the same subject by Jacob Jordaens.
