Nicolas Poussin 1594 - 1665 was a French painter of the Baroque period whose style and subject matter was heavily influenced by classicism - see here and here.

Most of his working life was spent in Rome.
The Arcadian Shepherds ("Les bergers d'Arcadie") is housed in the Louvre in Paris and depicts idealised shepherds around a tomb.
